Have you relaxed yet?

Guys I still haven't relaxed!!! I guess i will end up fulfilling my 6 month stretch! Funnily enough I forgot that I couldn't buy relaxer from London because I only had hand luggage and it would be a no no for the plane. Plus hair shops just aren't it here in Munich.  Either way last week I was FORCED to make my own hair softener!

N hot damn is it great! Can't say much for the smell!!!...so i'm going shopping on Friday for a signature scent that is hair friendly which should perfect it!

I'll let you know how it goes!

Search & Destroy

I'm not a fan of cutting/ trimming/ dusting. Nope... never have been. BUT I've matured n know its important to get rid of straggly ends a.k.a 'search n destroy'!

Dusting isnt your average trim or cut. Its actually a process you tend to do on a more frequent basis at home by yourself. It's simply you acting as a hair scientist. Let me paint u a picsture.

I sit in front of the mirror usually about to moisturise and seal and then KA-POW I find a split end. Then the search begins.... ten hours later I've gotten rid of any found split ends...and I feel good!

Dusting is definitely not a replacement to trimming...I guess it just lets your pre done trim last longer.

STRIVE FOR HEALTHY ENDS !!!

Work out!

For like the past 2-3 years I've been obsessed with gaining weight!

'WILL WOMEN EVER BE SATISFIED!!!?" Hmmm

Currently a size 8 and 10 in fake jeans(*)!
(*) Fake jeans= the pair of size 10 jeans i bought from primark that are so tight! As compared to the...how do u say...better tailored topshop size 10 jeans that refuse to fit like a glove.

I used to go by my own made up rule: ' slim folk should not excercise'...that was until I came across some good ol' knowledge.
Yes...for those of u that fall into the want to gain weight category'....EXCERCISE IS STILL IMPORTANT!

I told a friend that I was going to work out today 'n' I think he was a bit shocked...

Convo:

Me: just about to work out!
Mal: workout? 4reaal??
Mal: lol

So the question is...
WHY EXCERCISE EVEN IF YOUR TRYNA GAIN SOME???

There are two types of cholesterol - HDL or 'good' cholesterol and LDL, also known as 'bad' cholesterol. LDL is considered bad because it deposits cholesterol plaques onto the walls of the arteries, which can lead to hardening of the arteries and cardiovascular disease.

This latest study found that LDL cholesterol levels in thin people who did not exercise were almost identical to the levels found in obese people who did not exercise.

The study compared the heart disease risk factors in 37 lean exercisers, 46 lean non-exercisers and 28 obese non-exercisers.
Lean exercisers were fit and demonstrated almost optimal levels of LDL cholesterol. In contrast, lean non-exercisers were unfit and demonstrated borderline high levels of LDL cholesterol at just 40 years of age. These levels were almost identical to the levels found in the obese participants.

How bout that for some info eh?!!

The Hair Speaks!

Ever thought about what you look like? Like really look like... not in the mirror kinda look like.. but what u look like to others? Now lets apply this question to hair? Ever thought about what your hair says about you?

Secret Signals Your Hair Sends:

Short

Cropped hair is often interpreted as signifying intelligence, openness and honesty -what you see is what you get. As a rule, shorter styles also tend to make younger women appear older and more sophisticated.
Shoulder length

A woman with medium-length hair is usually perceived as classy and strong. People often view her as powerful, and someone who exemplifies both brains and beauty.
Long

If long hair is well kept, it suggests confidence and sensuality. But watch out for unkempt styles, which send a very different message: that the person is trying to cover up the parts of her body or face she considers flawed.
Curly vs Straight

Waves give the impression of playfulness, warmth and carefree nature; wearing your hair straight tells people that you are together, polished and stylish.
Ponytail

A neat, traditional ponytail is the picture of poise - it's a good style for meeting your boyfriend's parents or giving a presentation in front of your boss. A pony tail higher on the head conveys a more casual, energetic look.

Queen Helene Review

So a few weeks back I mentioned absolutely loviiinngg the 'Queen Helene Cholesterol' deep conditioner.

Now first off this stuff contains mineral oils....eurgh I know! That nasty stuff that clogs your pores!
But it also contains Aloe and Keratin Amino Acid Proteins a.k.a the main reason why I decided to use it! ( Pssst our hair is formed of  keratin bonds so keratin= the big go ahead!) Anyway...I was a little bit scared about using it on my new growth which was strong enough already...but my relaxed hair was in need so I took la risque.
Queen Helene is generally for hair that suffers from too many chemical treatments, over-processing, blow-drying etc, therefore especially good for extremely-damaged hair.

Method  'n' Results:
* I co-washed n then smothered QH all over my hair (mixed with oils) and then put my shower cap on...and sat under the hair dryer for 20 mins..
KA-POW!
* I realised that QH actually worked when I was detangling! My wide tooth comb went so easily through my hair which is usually a bit of a hassle with so much re-growth.

*Not only that!  Even once I had dried my hair and began to part it in prep for a rollerset...it was so much easier than previously when I had to use the comb as well as my fingers to part my hair.

Y'all should defo give it a try ;)

Peace, love n excellent hair care

The Truth Behind #Stretching

Before I start...NO This is not me or my hair! But it works just perfect for my rant to come!!

The life of a re-grower!

I have OFFICIALLY decided to end my 6 month stretch and be happy with the 18 weeks (4months n 2 weeks)  I've already done.
Given up already???...no thats not it! In fact the decision is due to saving my hair rather than thinking that stretching will always bring a positive result.
So... a few things for u to think about.
Does stretching grow your hair faster....No.....But it has MANY benefits
  • 1# benefit of stretching relaxers is healthier hair on your head..... (I have seen )
  • Some notice thicker hair/ because it avoids over lapping ( Yep my hair feels thicker)
However.... ( scratchin invisible beard ;)

Stretching can also do more damage than good!

WHY???

When stretching... your relaxed hair is weaker than your new growth which is stronger because its natural. When these 2 hair types meet this can be a dodgy situation! Combing, brushing and even washing all have to be done very carefully in order to cater to the different textures. Stretching your relaxer takes serious dedication...You really need to do your research so that u avoid breakage.

SO!!! Why am i stopping?
1) My new growth is extremely coarse and in need of constant moisture whilst my relaxed hair is fairly week and needing protein. If i use protein to cater to my relaxed hair this will strengthen my already STRONG new growth which so far has equalled TROUBLE!
2) I'm beginning to experience breakage....not because I'm not looking after my hair but because my hair is talking to me...and its about time I listened.
SO peeps...moral of the story! Listen to ur hair...stretch because its good for u but also do it right...and stop when ur hair begins to fight the stretch :)
Plus +++  once u've stretched for so long u can handle anything...nappy can never have a hold on me! I carried it for 4 months! Muhahaha
