Dinnertime Delight's- The Creamy Mash Shepherds Pie

My housemates and I started a new venture together at the start of the year. We decided to allocate ourselves to a day of the week and individually cook for one another. I absolutely love it and think it has brought us closer together! I should have posted this yesterday but didn't get a chance... twas my first time making it, and it turned out pretty good. I added some mayo and butter to the mash which made it extra creamy!

I took inspiration form this recipe and tweaked it to my liking!

I'm so in love with food blogs right now... Have you heard of Smitten Kitchen? If your a budding chef at heart then the blog will have you salivating!

Valentine's Day, the Hairdo and more!

I'm all for love, snuggling up and all the mushy stuff, but I'm more in favor of a greater love, one that should be shared with your neighbours, loved ones and one that teaches, is patient, is kind, is gentle, doesn't judge and isn't jealous. I hope and wish you all this kind of love for today but also the rest of your lives.

Have a love filled day ... x

P.s I braided my ponytail overnight with a squirt of serum and voila, my vals day waves!

But you’re naturally relaxed... | Mr LYT | Valentine's Edition

The other day I was talking to Mr LYT a.k.a the babes ;) and somehow my favourite topic cropped up... not rocket science, you guessed it... haircare! We dilly dallied on about my weave install, the blog, plans for my product line and yady da di dah.

Continuing on with the conversation I somehow started to blab on about another blogger and her attempts to enjoy her transition to natural hair as much as possible. I’m not sure what was said after that but all I can remember is,

‘What! You never said you were going natural!’
But I really did! I mean I even blogged about it... [guess who hasn’t really been reading the blog then eh! - Just kidding, he’s my blog support buddy... my ride or die!]
I find it so funny how much hair change can affect a relationship, I read the 'we will not lose our love, our marriage, over hair' article on Curly Nikki about a couple who nearly broke up because the woman went natural, even though she was pregnant with his baby! Side eye... man up dude!
Anyway conclusion of the conversation was that he’s down with whatever I chose to do with my hair, as long as I make it look superduper fly! Haha hair blogger superwoman to the rescue... I got this!

One thing I will always say , however, is don't let your 'who gon' check me boo' attitude steal the show too soon, you can't blame a guy for being apprehensive about change, we are all human. The key is to show him that you can rock any hair and still be that bawse lady... right!

So now on reflection I feel even more empowered by the step i’m taking and what’s more I don't see what all the media fuss is about, i’m jut taking a step back into history and getting back something i’ve not seen for a while! I’ve enjoyed relaxed hair for 11 years now, I think i’m allowed to try something new! Don’t you!

Sneek peek... the transition begins!

Protective Styling Boredom | 10 things to know about me...

Wearing a weave doesn't leave you with much to blog about unless you're a youtube whizz and can wow the world with yummy tutorials. I've already planned a 3 part youtube weave 101 series so besides that I'm pretty bored and can't wait to have my hair back already!

Why not get personal and give some insight into Fiona's life behind closed doors you say! Well, I was thinking exactly the same thing!

So for those of you who know me as far as internet blogging goes, here are a few things you  just may not know about me!

1| I'm Nigerian and darn well proud to be! In fact I often blast Gbemisoke (serious Nigerian Gospel CD!)  on Saturday mornings when cleaning! Don't judge!

2| My nigerian name is Oluwamayowa, Mayowa for short, it means God brought me joy. This of course gets all sorts of remixes... Mayo, Mayonnaise... cheers Daniel! P.s. Did I mention I have 12 names! African parents eh!

3| In my first year of uni I developed a serious addiction for wine gums, not the soft ones, the hard Rowntree Fruit Gums. I ate 5 packs in less than 6 hours and let's jut say a Dr's visit was a must!
Guess i've loved sweets from a young age!

4| When I was young, I saw two girls squirt some Veet Hair Removal cream into another girls hair cream! They threatened me not to say anything... the girl never came back to school! (I hope those girls feel awful on reflection)

5| I'm a language freak... currently learning my fourth language... German, Yoruba, French and now Italian! Ciao!!!

6| I'm currently taking swimming lessons! Shameful right?! Better now than never I say. I'm so shaken by the thought of drowning. The weird thing is, I don't mind going under water, visit the fish and all that, but the thought of going under without being in control just freaks me out! Had my 3rd lesson and I did the star float! The instructor told me to simply float in the water like a dead person! How in the world is that supposed to help?!

7| I loveeeee food! Yes, it may not show but me and food... we're homies. You do not want to see me on a hungry day... I do not ramp! Got quite a few recipes on here actually!

8| Currently in the process of developing my own product range! LoveYourTresses© . The first product Gingernut Brûlée pre-poo© has just been tested and reviewed by a focus group. It will be coming to a screen near you very soon!

9| I believe in excellence! It's a lifestyle I seek to attain daily. God is the center of my life.

10| I once feared that no-one read/liked the blog! That was until Facebook introduced 'likes'... I guess now I know there's hope!

Philip Kingsley, Kerastase, Goldwell - Product Reviews in abundance

I've received quite a few products to review over the next few weeks. Some of them I have already started to use but as I'm sure you can imagine, testing can be quite limited when you are wearing a weave so i'd prefer to give an in depth verdict once my hair is out of this install!

the prods...
Goldwell Kerasilk Ultra Rich Care Treatment
Kerastase Nutritive Nutri-Thermique Masque

Philip Kingsley Scalp Mask
Philip Kingsley Scalp Toner

I will of course whisper any effects I do experience during and after weave washes. Though I am a part time PJ [Product Junkie], I do believe in using products that cater to the needs of my hair. What I mean is, I won't buy a product for fine hair, knowing good and well that my hair is as far from fine as Oz! Why am I telling you this? Well, Philip Kingsley sent me their much raved about Scalp Toner and it is specifically for a flaky and itchy scalp. On receiving the product I wasn't quite sure of whether or not I would use it because my scalp rarely flakes and is only really itchy when in a weave. Which is where my lightbulb moment came... I'm wearing a weave!

P.s about this install... I am bored already! I feel like I was getting along so well with my own hair pre the install, that I've now started to miss it! In fact i'm strongly considering taking it out in just over a weeks time thus making it a 6 week install. That definitely is long enough, me thinks!

I know i'll probably end up doing another weave install in a month or two when i'm bored of my own hair again!

P.s x2!!! Can you see that pink bundle of juiciness in the corner? Just got this schhhmexy laptop bag from ASOS which of course doubles up as an every day clutch! Twas only a tenner ^_^

Sleek Fashion Idol Weave

I've been so frustrated with my laptop as of late, editing videos has been a massive task, but thank God for a hard drive! I've been able to transfer the problem files onto another laptop so I should have the part 1 weave 101 video up tonight!

In the mean time I won't keep you in the dark about my weave any longer!

I decided to give hair shop weave another chance to see if there really is a huge difference between this hair, and my previous brazilian hair- in terms of hair manageability, shedding and tangling.

Verdict... There sure is! But that's another days rant.

I'm using Sleek Fashion Idol [blue pack]
3 packs
12' 14' and 18' [they don't do 16']
colour 1b

Has anyone used this hair before? What were/are your thoughts?
